The Deadbolt Interviews Dustin & Barry
The Deadbolt Online recently conducted an interview with Ghost Hunters International team members Dustin Pari & Barry FitzGerald. Barry & Dustin talk about new equipment, scary mannequins, whether prisons or castles are scarier, and more! Don't forget to watch the new episode tonight!
THE DEADBOLT: Barry, how hard or easy is it to spook you?
BARRY FITZGERALD: [laughs] My biggest nemesis has to be mannequins. I have to say that those truly frighten the living hell out of me, because I have my mind set on I'm there to do a job, I'm there to look for ghosts, and all of a sudden this dummy will be leaning against somewhere, maybe where it shouldn't have been before, and it truly frightens the hell out of me.
In Argentina, in the case that's coming up, that they had the death images that were taken back in Victorian times, where people would be propped up with different things around them and a photograph was taken. So I was in a dark room with my own camera taking photographs of these photographs, because I've never actually seen them before, and the only thing light-wise I had was the auto focus on the camera. So, as you can imagine, as I turned around there was a small dummy of a child leaning against the wall and I screamed louder than Brandy Green ever could and all of them grabbed their stomachs laughing at me. I get spooked by those things, I really do.
THE DEADBOLT: When you guys visit a location that is known to have hosted famous people, do you try to contact that person, or does that even factor into the investigation?

In next week’s episode “Silver Shadow” premiering Wednesday, January 13, at 9PM (ET/PT), the team will make their way to La Falda, Argentina to uncover the ghostly mysteries of The Eden Hotel, a 19th century turn of the century luxury resort which once welcomed the rich and the famous including, Albert Einstein, the Prince of Wales and many world presidents to name a few. The Eden Hotel has had quite a strange, controversial past. Hotel employees and the municipality say past and recent paranormal activity at the hotel includes the apparition of a little girl, quick shadows running, voices whispering, cracking noises and slamming doors and windows. Paranormal activity runs so frequent at The Eden Hotel that the current restoration company for the hotel have complained that workers are scared to death to finish the restoration job.
The GHI team will then venture to Junee, Australia to visit the Monte Cristo Homestead. Monte Cristo meaning ‘”Mount of Christ” was built in 1884 as a Victorian manor to a wealthy family. Unfortunately the manor has been plagued by many horrific incidents and deaths over the years. In the house and its surrounding grounds at least seven apparitions have been reported. The current owners moved into the manor in 1963 and had no idea of the tragic history surrounding their Victorian home and were no prepared for what would be in store for them.
Heckling Hitler: TechLand Interviews Dustin & Barry
Techland conducted an interview recently with Ghost Hunters International investigators Dustin Pari and Barry FitzGerald in which they discuss the new season, new equipment and advancing technology, and a promise that the evidence gets even better as the season gets going. They also talk about their approach when hunting for Hitler's ghost and their challenges when doing an investigation. Please note that the article does contain spoilers about last night's episode, so proceed with caution.
What's the most convincing ghost evidence you've found in recent missions?
D.P.: There have actually been two recent cases in Argentina that were both amazing. We have a full spectrum photo that shows a character seated on a bed and there's also another intriguing image that we saw at a location where a child died of hypothermia. In that investigation I saw a short shadow figure that was 2.5-3 feet tall, and it just knocked me back on my heels. It wasn't something I was expecting. But coming up this season I think we have some of our best cases yet, with the best evidence. If ever there was a time for people to catch the program and possibly turn from a skeptic to a believer, this is it.
Purely in terms of the images you guys are now capturing, and the technology behind the cameras you're using, it seems as if you have taken the next big step...
Investigator and photographer Barry Fitzgerald: For 20 years, I think the technology has been rather stagnant. But we're now making a move towards better equipment that can provide us with answers. Already, with our new cameras, things are happening in the frame that we are not responsible for. We did an investigation in Tasmania that was truly amazing, where we captured this image of a person walking across the open ground over the course of a 30-second exposure. It's a person walking across the screen and we tried over and over to duplicate what the camera had produced, and there's simply no way we could make it happen again. When you have evidence like this, it's harder to dismiss.
We're also seeing new cameras being developed. I just got my hands on a camera that has four different modes, capable of switching between ultraviolet, infrared, low light and an extremely sensitive thermal imager. It's capable of seeing drafts coming in from under a door and using forensic software to analyze even the slightest movement. The sophistication of this equipment is a game changer, and I feel like we are standing at the precipice where no one has ever stood before, of being able to see and analyze things in a way that no one has ever done before.

GHF Exclusive Interview with Barry FitzGerald
With the season premiere of Ghost Hunters International approaching rapidly this Wednesday, Ghost Hunters Fans is excited to present an exclusive interview with the one and only Barry FitzGerald! In our interview, Barry talks about his photography, filming Ghost Hunters International, his books, and much more!
What do you like to do when you’re not ghost hunting?
I truly enjoying photography and use this as an escape. My better half lives in Austria and I spend a lot of my time in mainland Europe now with her at the castle in the Alps. Of course it's haunted and a good place to test the new equipment.
I’m working with new engineers from Colorado developing a new range of camera systems for the paranormal community and the UFO community with specialized tracking software and varying focal optics covering an increased band of the spectrum's. I will be announcing the new MVC cameras in 2010 and placing my name and support behind the new ranges which are truly remarkable.
I’m also writing a new book with Dustin Pari which will be out in early 2010 and is another fantastic read and of course another book designed by researchers for researchers.
A new website has been developed to sell my prints and will be available though sellers in Vienna Austria, or over the net and will be announced in 2010. The frames for the images are being hand made by members of the Fine Art Trade and have been awarded by the London School of Fine art on three occasions, these guys see the picture and say which frame will go with it. They are wizards as the pictures become truly magical and make the piece a true work of art.
You can read much more of the interview right here!

The Norwich Bulletin is reporting today that representatives of the show Ghost Hunters recently contacted the city of Preston about filing at the Norwich Hospital property in Norwich, Connecticut. The hospital opened in 1904 as the "Norwich State Hospital for the Insane" and functioned for decades, reaching its peak population in the 1950s, until 1996.
Redevelopment Agency Chairman Kent Borner said a representative of the show contacted the agency during the summer about a possible program, and supervising producer Matthew Meltzer called again last week.
Meltzer said Wednesday he does not have an agreement with Preston, but is excited about the possibility of filming. He said the cast, based in Warwick, R.I., knows of the site.
“They are very familiar with properties in New England, and this is one that has an extensive reputation ... for being haunted,” he said.
Borner said the show could help spread the word about the property.

411mania.com has created a year in review list of the best television shows of 2009. Ghost Hunters made the cut at #9 in the "Top 10 Other Programming of 2009" category, which includes reality, talk, and competition programming. Of interest, the article mentions a third, unnamed Ghost Hunters spin-off "on the way".
9) Ghost Hunters (Syfy)
The granddaddy of them all. Seriously, can you flip through the cable networks without seeing a series that features people looking for spirits in the material world? Hell, GH even has two spinoffs of its own (Ghost Hunters International and the new Ghost Hunters Academy, with a third on the way). GHF Exclusive Interview with Heathyr Hoffman
Ghost Hunters Fans is proud to present an exclusive interview with former Ghost Hunters Academy recruit Heathyr Hoffman! In our exclusive interview Heathyr tells us more about auditioning for the show, changes in her life since appearing on TV, her future in the paranormal field, and much more!
Can you tell us anything about the inside of the GHA RV?
Don't open the fridge! That thing smelled to high heaven; I have no idea what made it that way since it wasn't ever operational. Everyone's tendency when getting on the RV was to say "Oh, hey, I wonder if the fridge works" and go to open it; meanwhile those who were familiar with the Stench would be diving at them in slow-motion going "Noooooooooo!"

The Atlantic Paranormal Society from the series was at the lighthouse last week, investigating reports that the 150-year-old structure was haunted. Some lighthouse staff have reported hearing odd noises and seeing strange things while working at the landmark, which bills itself as the state’s tallest lighthouse.

The show also reached a series high this year with the greatest amount of viewers in five seasons. SyFy itself has also enjoyed success, with its final quarter of 2009 the best quarter in the comapany's history.

Ghost Hunters Visit Hartford's Old State House
Next Wednesday's episode of Ghost Hunterswill featureHartford's Old State House in Hartford, Connecticut. The results from the investigation have been kept a tight secret since TAPS visited in early October. The episode featuring The Old State House will air December 9.
HARTFORD -- The birthplace of Connecticut state government will be thrust onto the national stage next Wednesday when the SyFy Network's top-rated "Ghost Hunters" premieres its paranormal investigation of Connecticut's Old State House. The program's investigators visited the building in early October, and their examination of Connecticut's original state capitol makes its world premiere on Dec. 9 at 9 p.m.
While the outcome of the investigation remains a closely-guarded secret, stories of "ghostly" phenomena at the Old State House have abounded for years. So much so, that the Ghost Hunters production team contacted the museum more than nine months ago in hopes of conducting an investigation.
"The cast and crew were great to work with," said Bill Bevacqua, director of communications for Connecticut's Old State House. "They truly appreciated the history of the building and showed great concern for trying to dispel myths and rumors with their investigation while searching for actual evidence of the paranormal."
Regardless of what's revealed on the show, the Old State House staff looks forward to the building receiving national attention.

Dave Tango sheds new light on his lifelong struggle with Tourette Syndrome and talks more about Ghost Hunters Academy in a new interview with ParanormalPopCulture. In the new interview he mentions how he got onto Ghost Hunters, his filming schedule now that he was two shows to appear in, the methods he and Steve Gonsalves teach the recruits, growing up with Tourette Syndrome, and his love of peanut butter.
Q: How did a magician from New Jersey get on a hit cable show, and then eventually get his own series?
TANGO: I had my own little group in Jersey and we contacted TAPS because we had a place that had potential. They came and let me and a friend be a guest on an episode. I just got along with everyone, and two weeks later I got a call and they asked if I wanted to give it a trial run … I haven’t messed up since then, I guess!
Q: Because it’s not a science and there are no real experts, the paranormal has a lot of disbelievers. How do you deal with those who dismiss this pursuit of yours?
TANGO: No matter what kind of evidence anyone catches - if we, for instance, got miraculous video footage and we’re all there to witness it - there will always be someone saying, “You know what, it’s just a video.” I think the only way for someone to see for themselves is to be there in a haunted spot and actually witness something … But there will still be people so headstrong that even if they see a ghost and it talks to them, they’re still not going to believe it.
Q: How does that relate to growing up with Tourette Syndrome?
TANGO: It was rough growing up with it. A lot of people didn’t understand it, including teachers, believe it or not. I was never picked on when I was a kid. I was lucky for some reason … even the bullies liked me. But the teachers were the ones who weren’t educated or know anything about it. They would ask, “Why are you doing that?” and I’d be like, “Well, I can’t help it.”
Q: How did you cope with that?
TANGO: I’d have to get out of my seat and walk the halls because I’d have to tic a lot [experience [involuntary movements and vocalizations]. I’d have to move and couldn’t be in one spot for a long period of time. I would get embarrassed by teachers because they’d just shout out loud with, “What are you doing? You’re weird.” That was a big problem growing up with that.
Q: How did that lead to your father beginning the benefit?
TANGO: He saw the way it was hard for me growing up. It really touched him. He loves doing this every year because he knows at some point we will find a cure. We keep getting closer and closer. It’s tough to deal with, always moving around, but it will be good to see people supporting this cause.
Q: We’ve already seen some discipline take place on the show, so who’s the good cop and bad cop between you and Steve?
TANGO: It switches around. There are a few times on the show where I get kind of angry. Not because I’m a jerk, but because of common sense stuff. Safety issues are areas I was really getting mad about. Besides, if you want to be part of our group, then you need to step up. I had to. I was a young kid and got into this whole thing with Ghost Hunters and they hammered me too. I had to go through the same thing these guys go through.
Q: When you and Steve drive the cadets around, do you ever think of yourselves as parents on a road trip with the kids?
TANGO: In a weird, weird way. We’ll catch ourselves saying, “Oh the kids …” The kids? These guys are almost my age. Even the crew say it sometimes.
Q: But aren’t they your TAPS tots? They’re your babies. You know, they grow up so fast.
TANGO: [laughs] Sometimes I think that!
Q: How is it on the inside of the R.V.? Anything you like to have on hand?
TANGO: It’s pretty cozy in there, but I love peanut butter. I’m a simple man; just jars of peanut butter and spoons … And chocolate big time. Steve’s really big into rewarding the recruits. I try to put in as much as I can, but not as much as him. He’s a very thoughtful person.

In a list of book deals reported today by Publisher's Weekly is one involving Ghost Hunter's own Jason Hawes and Grant Wilson brokering a deal to do a "middle grade children's series" with the tentative title and release of "Ghost Hunt" and "October 2010".

The first book in the tentatively titled Ghost Hunt series is slated for Halloween 2010.

Winners of Pair-A-Normal Contest Ready to Investigate
Christian Sacoolas and Jennifer Nelson, winners of SyFy's Pair-A-Normal Contest, are ready to hunt for ghosts in their area, reports the Santa Cruz Sentinel. The couple has won research equipment which is valued at being worth $10,000 and plans for their investigations to be filmed for the internet and possibly be broadcast on television. To find out more about Christian Sacoolas and Jennifer Nelson's investigations visit www.facebook.com/santacruzparanormal.
Sacoolas and Nelson beat out hundreds of other applicants on a live episode broadcast Halloween night. They were selected by The Atlantic Paranormal Society and SyFy "Ghost Hunter" co-stars Jason Hawes and Grant Wilson, and were judged on the basis of their passion for paranormal research, team chemistry and an understanding of investigation techniques.
The pair will be awarded research equipment, valued around $10,000, which they will use to investigate reported paranormal activity in Santa Cruz County and beyond. Their investigations will be filmed for the Internet and possible broadcast on television.
"We'd like to get a big spotlight on some local places," Sacoolas said.
Sacoolas and Nelson will approach their ghost-hunting scientifically, they said. They are enlisting a research team, while both friends and strangers suggest places to investigate. Suggestions so far include Porter College and the Barn Theater at UC Santa Cruz, the Brookdale Inn and Spa and the Winchester Mystery House.
Nelson said that their victory was sudden.
"We went from Point A to Point X in a half a second," she said.
Nelson said they are open to investigating just about anything, and that they will learn as they go. They're hoping that individuals and businesses will get in touch with them, she said.
Sacoolas said they will become "weekend warriors," balancing their research into the paranormal with fulltime jobs and school. All investigations will be free.
The duo is planning a test run, once the equipment arrives in a few weeks. Nelson said that they are open to suggestions or additional crew members, and that people can contact them through their Facebook page.
Sacoolas and Nelson, who will be celebrating their five-year anniversary as a couple this month, said that they've been watching "Ghost Hunters" together throughout their relationship.
"People and our culture have really categorized this idea of a ghost and assigned attributes to that," Sacoolas said. "And I'm not sure if I subscribe to any of that. We're just kind of curious."
Donna LaCroix Rips On Ghost Hunters
Donna LaCroix, former TAPS team member, appeared on the "Ghost Divas" radio show and nothing but negative things to say about her experience on the show Ghost Hunters. Among her many allegations were that her contract with the show almost made her bankrupt, that the show is complete enterainment and rumor has it that there is a staging crew, that Brian Harnois was exploited to the point of mental abuse, and she admits that she is bitter. At then end of the show she does mention that her exerperience was not all bad and that "she made some great connections, met some really nice people and was glad that Ghost Hunters had brought the paranormal discussion into so many living rooms." Jason Hawes has rebutted Donna's claims with these remarks:
Peoples (sic) views on things are their views, People can say whatever they want. That is what makes the country great.
I was asked not to respond about it directly from Syfy and Pilgrim, They want to write something up and release it. We have nothing to hide so I am comfortable with that.
I do ask that the fans of GH to not attack her in anyway, and please do not say negative things about her.
For a few minutes this was on Jason’s Twitter feed but then it was removed:
As for those asking if I heard radio thing. A bit. Not concerned at all. TAPS has never done anything wrong. People can say what they want.
Donna then responded with these remarks:
I wasn’t trying to discredit anyone. I was answering questions about MY experience. I never said anyone faked anything, just that if it did go on, I wouldn’t be privy to any info because everyone knows I take investigating seriously.
Thank you all for your support. And I do applaud Jason for coming forward with a reply. And, please no attacks on Jason, GH, and GHI. I NEVER intended my words would be on the flame throwing level.

Sneak Peeks Of Next Week's GH & GHA
Next week brings two new episodes of Ghost Hunters and the newly premiered Ghost Hunters Academy. TAPS is headed down south and investigates the Pensacola Lighthouse while the Ghost Hunters Academy recruits are boarding the USS North Carolina to test out their ghost hunting skills. You can see both video previews at this link.
This week on Ghost Hunters Academy, Steve and Tango take the investigators-in-training down to North Carolina and put their skills to the test at the U.S.S. Carolina. Their job will be to collect concrete evidence that will back up the chilling claims of doors slamming, people talking, and pots and pans banging when there's no one else in the room. They'll learn how to use more ghost hunting technology. But will their egos get in the way as they try to maneuver through the haunted ship maze? Tune in to see if one of the students ends up walking the plank and kissing their dreams of becoming a Ghost Hunter goodbye.
Head down south with the i>Ghost Hunters crew as they investigate the spooky Pensacola Lighthouse. Tales of a ghost-like woman lurking the halls have been passed down from generation to generation. Brace yourself as TAPS searches for clues to explain creepy transparent figures, invisible fingers tapping guests on the head and light switches turning off and on by themselves. Tune in as the team reveals some of their most startling on-camera evidence yet!

Ghost Hunters Academy SyFy's Highest Rated Reality Premiere
Last night's Ghost Hunters Academy premiere was a huge success with more than two million viewers. The show beat out South Park and Nip/Tuck. The premiere was one of SyFy's highest rated "reality" premieres in nearly two years (the January 2008 premiere of Ghost Hunters International) according to TVByTheNumbers.
New York, NY – November 12, 2009 – Continuing the popularity of Ghost Hunters — the #1 paranormal investigative franchise on television — spin-off Ghost Hunters Academy became Syfy’s most successful reality series premiere in nearly two years during its debut Wednesday, November 11, at 10PM (ET/PT). The series delivered 2.07 million total viewers, 1.2 million Adults 18-49 and 1.3 million Adults 25-54 along with a 1.5 HH rating.
These were the highest viewership marks for a reality series premiere since the January 2008 debut of sibling Ghost Hunters International.
Head-to-head in the 10PM (ET/PT) time period, Ghost Hunters Academy trimmed FX’s Nip/Tuck in Adults 18-49 and Adults 25-54, while besting Comedy Central’s South Park in Adults 25-54.
Coupled with Ghost Hunters at 9PM (ET/PT) – Ghost Hunters Academy catapulted Syfy into the #2 slot among all basic cable networks for both Adults 18-49 and Adults 25-54 during 8-11PM prime (ET/PT).

Steve & Dave On Being 'Paranormal Professors'
With the series premiere of Ghost Hunters Academy just a few hours away, a new interview conducted by Aaron Sagers of ParanormalPopCulture.com with 'paranormal professors' Steve Gonsalves and Dave Tango gives us more insight into the show. In the interview, Steve and Dave talk about the furusturating aspect of teaching new recruits, the impact that Ghost Hunters has had on the paranormal field, some of the misconceptions about ghost hunting, and much more!
Q: What makes for a good cadet and potential TAPS member?
GONSALVES: The passion – that it’s there, it’s in them and that they love it and want to do it forever. If you join our team, we don’t investigate in the same capacity as any other team on the planet. We’re much more involved with much more equipment. We do multiple investigations a week where most teams do one a month. If your heart’s not completely in it, you’re going to fizzle out after six, seven, eight months.
Q: What’s a common misconception your cadets, and even some viewers, have about paranormal investigative shows?
TANGO: These people come into the show and a lot of them think it’s just like they see on TV. That it’s like 20 minutes in a room, and that’s not the case at all. There’s a lot more to it and I’m glad Steve and I were able to show them that. It can be rough sometimes, but that’s the way it is. It’s not as easy as it looks. Yeah, we’re sitting down and we’re pointing a camera but there’s a lot more to it with the setup and the procedures and protocol of investigating.
GONSALVES: You have to have a lot of knowledge. Not that we all have degrees in it, but you have to have a lot of knowledge in the paranormal: the current theories, the past theories, the energy theories. You have to know all this stuff and they all came in not knowing any of it but boasting as if they did. One person says, “I love it, I love it, it’s my favorite.” She’s so happy that it’s what she’s wanted to do forever, but yet has never read one book, never been to one lecture, never done anything. How can that passion be in you for as long as you can remember but you’ve never bothered to pick up one book?
TANGO: Don’t just say, “I read this on the Internet, I read that on the Internet.” You need to get real books from parapsychologists and true investigators. A lot of these students say, “Well I read this on the Internet so it must be true.” Maybe it is, but we don’t know that.
GONSALVES: We have one girl who says it’s been her lifelong dream to be a parapsychologist. I finally asked her, “How do you plan to do that?” She says she’s going to go to school for it. It made me realize she had no idea what she was talking about. There is no accredited course in the United States for that … These are people who think they know everything but are quickly finding out that they don’t really know anything.
Q: While you have to train the cadets, do you also have to break bad habits picked up from watching TV, and even from watching the main Ghost Hunters show?
GONSALVES: It would be breaking bad habits, but there’s only one or two of them that have any investigation experience coming into it. Those people we definitely had to break bad habits. The other people we had to break bad habits because they did see these things on TV, but it was a little easier because they didn’t have any prior experience. It was frustrating, it really was. There’s this one that just claims to be the queen of the paranormal, but yet… Well, you’ll see on the show. But it was an experience they all loved. Afterwards, they say, “This was amazing.”
TANGO: You do see progress. Whether it’s a little bit or a lot … a lot of it is just common sense stuff. I think, for Steve and I, that was the most frustrating - things that you don’t have to have any knowledge about. That’s the stuff that bothered me the most.
Q: Is it tough being the boss?
GONSALVES: What’s funny is we all become friends. We’re all on the road, we investigate every week and we spend 12 hours a day with these people … so it gets a little tough.
TANGO: They’re all great people, and it does get kind of tough but we have to do what we have to do.

Jason & Grant Talk Ghosts and More
In a new interview posted on the Hartford Courant, Jason Hawes and Grant Wilson spoke about everything from plumbing to inhuman entities. They gave some interesting insight into the writing process behind their recently published book, Seeking Spirits and even joked about a failed attempt at a TAPS Saturday morning cartoon.
These problems of dealing with cable networks and live investigations are definitely different than what their T.A.P.S. group experienced in its infancy. In "Seeking Spirits," Hawes and Wilson, along with co-author Michael Jan Friedman, paint a picture of a young investigative group that travel long distances through blizzards to assist clients in need. Along the way, Hawes and Wilson developed theories, tested new equipment and grew into the televised group millions of viewers now know.
But they never became experts in the paranormal field.
"There's really no experts in this field. How can we be," says Hawes, who takes great pains to explain that the word "paranormal" means outside the ordinary, and currently beyond scientific definition. Besides, says Wilson, what they do is not just about interacting with spirits.
"It's not so much about learning about ghosts as much as it's more learning about the human psyche and how to debunk. I mean, ghosts are a big unknown."
Can't wait until tonight for the new episode of Ghost Hunters? Here is a preview that will hopefully keep you happy until tonight!
This week’s episode of Ghost Hunters finds the TAPS team in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado investigating what appears to be the lovely mansion, Briarhurst Manor, where they will be investigating claims of playful ghost children.

Season Finale Episode to Feature NJ Base
In early October, the TAPS team conducted an investigation of the Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst in New Jersey. The investigation will air as the final episode of Season 5 in November.
A production crew from the SyFy Channel's television series, "Ghost Hunters," arrived at Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst in early October to film an episode of the show.
A crew of 17 descended on Lakehurst's Hangar 1 - the Hindenburg crash site - as well as the Branch Medical Clinic. They were out to find any "paranormal" activity taking place on the base.
Series founders and hosts, Jason Hawes and Grant Wilson and the team from The Atlantic Paranormal Society, based out of Providence, R.I, .conducted investigations for three nights around the base.
TAPS set up video cameras, sound equipment and heat sensing devices in an effort to substantiate or debunk any rumors about ghosts haunting the cavernous trappings of Hangar 1 and the nooks and crannies in and about the Branch Medical Clinic.

Jason And Grant Give Presentation in St. Louis
Last Tuesday, Jason and Grant gave another presentation on their methods for ghost hunting at the Millennium Student Center in St. Louis. A reporter from The Current Online, a student newsletter, was there Tuesday night during Hawes' and Wilson's talk.
On Tuesday night the popularity of their show was evident. Crazed fans were dismembering books for autographs and the line for entry encircled the top floor of the MSC. It was not clear whether the people packed into the Century Room were there to validate their supernatural beliefs or just to be in the presence of these men. Either way the crowd seemed overly pleased by what they were presented with that night.
Hawes and Wilson took the stage and explained their methodologies of ghost hunting. Their slideshow took the crowd through case studies, photos, videos and audio recordings from their hunts. A portion of the night was plunged into darkness when they showed footage of paranormal activities. Scenes of a dark apparition speeding down a hallway to a possessed gate that continually closed when approached were part of the presentation.
In a question-and-answer session after their presentation, a boy asked whether they had ever come across any “real” paranormal activity. While eliciting a good laugh from the crowd, the answer revealed that these two men were not forcing conclusions onto their viewers.
“I don’t know. All I can do is rule stuff out until I run out of information, then I can show it to people like you and hopefully you guys can figure out what it is or rule it out,” Wilson said.
Earlier in their talk they made it clear that the majority of cases they come across can be explained by natural reasons.
They mentioned a couple of cases where it was comically obvious, such as investigating a homeowner’s claim of paranormal activity. Upon searching the house they found the culprit to be a cookie jar full of marijuana.

More Changes to Ghost Hunters Live
Just as it seemed like plans were finally in order for Ghost Hunters Live, SyFy seems to have been doing some changing around on their website, www.syfy.com/ghlive. A blogger on MassLive.com has been covering the whole progress of events and notes several changes to the website and new Twitter messages from Jason and Grant that tell us more about the show.
Another change up on the Ghost Hunters Live Halloween event. Syfy.com has changed up the website more often than Mariah Carey changes costumes during a concert. First it was "Ask a question for Jay, Grant and Meat Loaf to be answered LIVE on the air on Halloween!" Then it went to "Ask a question for Jay and Grant to be answered LIVE on the air on Halloween!" Now it reads "Ask a question for the Ghost Hunters team to be answered live ..."
Now, the website and the new commercial for the show appear to be pushing more of an online investigation, with the televised event being previously taped interviews with Jason and Grant introducing the top 5 repeats.
It's still very confusing but it does seem that the only live portions will be web based with Josh Gates and the recruits from Ghost Hunters Academy. Indeed, some tweets I saw last night from Jason and Grant confirm that their portions are already taped and that they will be home with the kids for Halloween.
grantswilson: There will be live web cams online and Steve and Tango will be answering questions & panic button hits. There you go.
Jchawes: Here's the deal on Halloween. TAPS is not doing a live show. There will be a GH marathon on with Josh gates. Were not investigating.
grantswilson: Halloween show. Hosted live by J Gates, top 5 GH episodes. Get to meet GHA crew. Jay & I prerecorded lead-ins to the shows...

New Interview With Jason & Grant
Last night Jason Hawes and Grant Wilson did a presentation about their work in the paranormal field at Harper College in Chicago. A reporter from Time Out Chicago was able to condcut a short three minute interview with the two Lead Investigators. During the interview they talked about how they felt regarding the large number of people who attempt to "debunk" Ghost Hunters, competition in the world of televised ghost hunting, a little bit about the new equipment they will be using in the next season, the creepiest thing they've ever seen, and more.
TOC: You guys seem to have a huge fan base and an equally huge group out to debunk you. Does that bother you?
Grant Wilson: Ha ha ha, no. That’s what we want. We want everyone to be a skeptic. We’re skeptics. Otherwise, we wouldn’t be trying to debunk this stuff. We encourage people to ask questions. Actually, at the last place we spoke, a girl who couldn’t have been older than nine stood up at the end of our presentation and asked, “Yeah, but have you seen any real paranormal stuff?” I thought that was great. That’s the best question we’ve gotten so far.
TOC: It seems a ton of shows out now are trying to do the same things you guys do. Do you feel there’s stiffer competition in the televised ghost-hunting field?
Jason Hawes: Not really. They’re not on at the same time, and they’re not doing things in the same way. TAPS [the Atlantic Paranormal Society] has been around since 1990, so we were doing this long before the show. We’re out looking for the truth and if someone else is doing that too, that’s cool.
TOC: What can we expect from the next season?
GW: We just started filming 27 episodes for 2010.
TOC: Where?
GW: We can’t say. We can tell you we’re getting a ton of new equipment. This season we’re going to have 360-degree cameras, full-spectrum video cameras, a hand-held X-ray gun so we can shoot at one point on a wall and see through. We’re pretty excited.
TOC: Favorite place you guys have been?
JH: The Stanley Hotel [in Estes Park, Colorado]. We’ve been there, what, 14 times now and it never disappoints.
TOC: What’s the creepiest thing you’ve ever seen?
JH: Homeowners. Everyone asks us this question and it’s the people who own the homes that are the scariest.
GW: A ghost might move around furniture, but it won’t ever pull a gun on you. People are the ones you should be afraid of.
TOC: Someone actually pulled a gun on you guys?
GW: Yeah, we were checking out this woman’s house and she pulled a shot gun on us. Unfortunately, she also committed suicide six months later. We didn’t put that on the show, but it happened.

What does it take to be a top-notch paranormal investigator? Anybody can set up a few cameras and turn out the lights, but only a select few have the right stuff to really get to the bottom of the most puzzling supernatural phenomena.
Ghost Hunters Academy features a group of aspiring ghost hunters exploring some of the most haunted locations in the country and around the world. Led by veteran ghost hunters and TAPS members Steve Gonsalves and Dave Tango, the recruits train, hands on, in the paranormal arts.
The new recruits venture outside conventional classroom walls, tackling new paranormal hotspots as well as favorite old haunts from Ghost Hunters, including Fort Mifflin (Pennsylvania), Eastern State Penitentiary (Pennsylvania), and St. Augustine Lighthouse (Florida). If they make the grade, the Academy members may be invited to investigate with the Ghost Hunters or Ghost Hunters International teams. If they don't, they may be sent packing. Who will prove to be the worthiest paranormal investigator? You'll have to watch and see.

Investigation Of Wrestling Venue To Air This Week
An article posted today on PWTorch reports that this week's episode of Ghost Hunters will feature an investigation of The Congress Theater in Chicago, IL which has hosted pro wrestling shows.
The Congress Theater in Chicago, Ill. will be investigated for paranormal activity on this week's episode of Ghost Hunters. The venue has hosted pro wrestling shows, including the Dragon Gate USA show on September 6.
The venue was built in the 1920s and has been designated a Chicago Landmark. DGUSA executive Gabe Sapolsky said he was given a tour of the building during the September show and took note of suspicious Mob activity during the 1930s.
"This is the kind of building I love. Old, character in every nook and that unmistakable vibe. We run around like children exploring the catwalk, basement and examining all the intricacies," he wrote on MySpace. "The highlight is the red dome, glowing with pride like a peacock showing off its feathers, in the center of the ancient ceiling. 'This is where the mob took the owner and cut his throat in the '30s,'" we're told as we enter the basement.
The episode of Ghost Hunters scheduled to feature the Theater will air on Wednesday night on Syfy.

A Few Tidbits About Ghost Hunters Academy
During a live blogging event investigation with Steve, Dave, and Dustin, a little more information was uncovered about the upcoming Ghost Hunters Academy. Just as the investigation was drawing to a close, we heard a little more about the show.
1:31 [Comment From ghfwebmaster]
Can any of the TAPS guys give us any interesting tidbits about Ghost Hunters Academy?
1:52 ParanormalPopCulture: Also, he said that the show is really a learning process where we (the audience) get more of an accurate feel of how an investigation is held.
1:53 ParanormalPopCulture: Also, we should get more of an idea that a case takes longer than an hour to do.
1:53 [Comment From Katie]
How many investigators will there be?
1:53 ParanormalPopCulture: Katie, that I don't know just yet. But I have a feeling that we won't begin and end with the same amount.
1:53 [Comment From ghfwebmsater]
That makes me even more interested! :)
1:54 ParanormalPopCulture: I know GHFWebmaster. It's pretty cool sounding. Dave also tells me that even though he's a coach, he ends up learning a lot from them.
1:54 ParanormalPopCulture: As far as locations, we can expect a new take on some places we've seen before.
1:54 ParanormalPopCulture: I have an interview coming up with Dave in a few days and will reveal more about the show and the inside of the GHA RV.
...
1:55 [Comment From Katie]
Can we expect any guest appearances from Jay or Grant?
1:56 ParanormalPopCulture: Katie, expect to see lots of familiar faces from the family.

Sneak Peek At Fort Henry
TV By The Numbers has posted an article today about shows airing next week on SyFy, among them a new episode of Ghost Hunters, "Fort Henry".
TAPS heads north to explore the most haunted place in Canada. Fort Henry served as a prison and execution site for hundreds of dangerous convicts. Over the years, employees and visitors have witnessed a number of strange, frightening events.
Built in 1812, Fort Henry served as a prisoner-of-war camp for captured Nazis during World War II. Today, the fort is a National Heritage Site and a memorial to Canada’s military history. Historical eyewitness accounts suggest that paranormal entities have long been haunting the fort.
Strange apparitions, mysterious sounds of shattering glass and other ghostly activities have been recorded in this great maze of a military complex. Could the restless spirits of dead prisoners be stirring trouble? TAPS investigates.

Watch A Preview of Glimmer Men
TheDeadBolt.com has an exclusive preview online of new week's Ghost Hunters, Glimmer Men.
TAPS Investigates Mark Twain House
The Hartford Courant posted an article today reporting that TAPS recently spent a week investigating the Mark Twain House and Musuem in Hartford.
Whispered about for years, the stories have accumulated enough to draw TV's popular "Ghost Hunters" to town last month for a full investigation.
A number of unexplained stories have accumulated over the years: Lights that had been turned off suddenly turned on. The sound of children giggling when there were no children on a tour. A tug on the shirt of one guide and no one there when he turned around. Lights that dimmed when a certain child was spoken of. Figures darting at the edge of the eyes, in corners and shadows. A sudden blast of cold in the drawing room. Loud, jarring noises. The smell of cigar smoke up in the pool room, where the fire alarm would inexplicably go off. The sound of footsteps above, in rooms known to be unoccupied. Children darting up the ornate stairs. And most spectacularly, a tray flung toward a guard stationed in the basement.
"This is gorgeous. He lived in style here," "Ghost Hunter" Grant Wilson said when opening the front door to the house last week, cameras capturing the moment.
"This place is incredible," agreed Jason Hawes.
Together, the two began the Atlantic Paranormal Society in their spare time in Westerly, R.I., where they were Roto Rooter men. Since the TV show started following their activities five years ago, they have done less and less plumbing and more investigating spooky sites, hoping to disprove and provide explanations for unexplainable things they are called to look into.
Because the show usually spends two weeks in each place, the ghost hunters spent a week at the Mark Twain House with some after-hours investigations this past week at the Old State House. Both are expected to be part of the "Ghost Hunters" season Wednesday nights on the Syfy Network before the end of the year.
"We can't touch anything," Grant says.
The men are used to crawling around in spiderweb-infested abandoned crawl spaces. The handsomely restored National Historic Landmark is more to their liking. "I'm more interested in the history of the place than paranormal activity," Wilson says.

More Information On Ghost Hunters Live Halloween
According to MassLive.com, TAPS will indeed be doing a Live Halloween Special on October 31, 2009, despite rumors that they would not be doing a live show this Halloween.
Ghost Hunters and the Syfy channel have finally come out with something of an announcement about the annual Halloween special. As you know, Halloween is when the Ghost Hunters 'usually' do their big hours-long live event from a suspected haunted location.
After some controversy over last year's episode which included some (supposedly) suspicious footage of Grant Wilson getting his jacket collar tugged several times, rumor had it that the Ghost Hunters team were begging off doing another live episode this year. Frankly, I find the whole thing extremely odd. If someone is questioning your credibility the last thing you want to do is to cave into the pressure and call the whole thing off. I can understand them being angry at some of the stuff that has been written about them lately, but for a team that supposedly runs INTO the fray while others run out, I'd think the guys would suck it up and dive in, harder, faster and bigger than ever before.
Well, it seems that the TAPS team is indeed doing some version of a live episode for Halloween night. An announcement on the Syfy.com website states:
Now it's your turn to lend TAPS a hand by picking the Ghost Hunters episodes that will appear in Syfy's Viewer's Choice Marathon this Halloween. Pick up to twenty of your favorites below, then tune in Saturday October 31 at 9am/8c to see which ones made the cut. Join the hunt and make this Viewer's Choice Marathon the eeriest of them all.
Send Jason and Grant your questions for a chance to see them answered live on the air this Halloween during the Ghost Hunters Live event, featuring guest hunter Meat Loaf!
It is unsure whether this live show will be similar to previous year's episodes where there was a marathon investigation, or if this year the live show will follow a different format.
Today SyFy has confirmed that Ghost Hunters Academy will launch on Wednesday, November 11, 2009.
Syfy will expand its "Ghost Hunters" franchise yet again with the launch of "Ghost Hunters Academy" on Wednesday, November 11, network sources confirmed to the site today.
The spin-off will take over the 10:00/9:00c hour from "Destination Truth," which wraps its third season the previous week.
Syfy ordered six episodes of the project, which previously featured the titles "Ghost Hunters: New Generation" and "Ghost Hunters: College Edition," back in December. The series follows "a group of college students, led by seasoned TAPS investigators Steve Gonsalves and Dave Tango, who search for the paranormal in haunted hotspots around the country and around the world."

Pre-Order Seeking Spirits: The Lost Cases of The Atlantic Paranormal Society on Amazon
The newest book by TAPS lead investigators Jason Hawes and Grant Wilson is now available for pre-order via Amazon for $10.88. You can see an image of the cover in our Gallery.
TV's POPULAR GHOST HUNTERS REVEAL ALL-NEW, NEVER-BEFORE-TOLD STORIES FROM THEIR SPOOKY EARLY INVESTIGATIONS!
For the first time ever, Jason Hawes and Grant Wilson, founders of The Atlantic Paranormal Society (T.A.P.S.), share their most memorable and spine-tingling early cases -- none of which has ever appeared on television. Beginning with the previously untold experiences that sparked their passion for ghost hunting, Jason and Grant's bone-chilling investigations uncover:
• A Connecticut woman who seems to exist in two places at once
• A little girl whose invisible playmate retaliates
against her father's punishments
• A man overcome by an evil entity as Jason and Grant survey his home
• A distraught woman who dreams of paranormal events
before she experiences them...and much more!
Jason and Grant didn't always have the fancy scientific equipment and experienced team that fans now watch on their smash-hit television show. As they share their hair-raising first experiences, they offer essential tips for budding paranormal investigators -- including how to use an electromagnetic field (EMF) meter and an infrared camera, determine if a supernatural phenomenon is good or evil, and deal with spirits. Whether you're a skeptic or a believer, these fascinating and frightening true stories will keep you up at night!
Ghost Hunters Franchise Expanding
It seems like the Ghost Hunters are going international, as Alfred Haber Distribution, Inc. has signed new deals which brings Ghost Hunters, Ghost Hunters Interntional, and Ghost Hunters Academy (the newest title attached to the Ghost Hunters spin-off) to the United Kingdom and Canada. New Information on Ghost Hunters Spin-Off
Today, the Examiner published an article detailing some new information about the rumored Ghost Hunters spin-off, Ghost Hunters: College Edition.
On August 25, 2009, readers who identified themselves as “NJ Fans of GH” posted comments on the article page for “House of Mudd.” They wrote about a chance encounter with TAPS tech manager, Steve Gonsalves, at a Philadelphia eatery the previous week. According to the posting, Gonsalves told them of a Ghost Hunters spin-off, involving himself and TAPS member Dave Tango, which would feature a location from the original show’s fourth season. Gonsalves offered no further information regarding the location, other than to say that the fans would “crap their pants.”
Nearly a year ago, on October 23, 2008, TV Guide reported that Syfy would launch a spin-off called Ghost Hunters: College Edition. A press release from the same date by Syfy confirmed the report and indicated that the show would feature “college students, lead by seasoned investigators, who search for the paranormal in haunted hot spots.” Are we to assume, in light of his recent remarks in Philadelphia, that Gonsalves and Tango will be the “seasoned investigators” to lead the co-eds?
According to the article, "an anonymous source at the Greater Philadelphia Film Office confirmed that the Ghost Hunters spin-off was being filmed at Philadelphia’s Fort Mifflin, a rather active location investigated during season four of Ghost Hunters". You can read the entire article for yourself here.

A GHF Exclusive: Paul Bradford Interview
Recently, Ghost Hunters Fans was lucky enough to get a chance to interview Paul Bradford, the newest Ghost Hunters International team member! Paul was first seen in the final episode of Season 2.0 and is going to be a regular part of the team, serving as Tech Specialist. He was kind enough to answer a few questions that we asked him about his life and his work as a paranormal investigator. You can read the whole interview here. Below is an excerpt from the interview.
Ghost Hunters Fans:Tell me a little bit about yourself. Paul Bradford: My name is Paul Bradford, I'm married with two beautiful daughters. I'm the newest member of the Ghost Hunters International team. When I'm not travelling the world in search for paranormal activity, I run my own team out of Arizona called Sonoran Paranormal Investigations. I also run a ghost hunting gear website called Creepy Hollow Gear which I started a few years ago with a simple MySpace page and has now expanded to a full website offering many different kinds of Ghost Tech, the goal with Creepy Hollow was to help other paranormal teams and enthusiasts out there. The cost of equipment especially when labeled "the must have ghost hunting tool" was always astronomical and seemed that there was a lot of people in the field to just make money so I started building and selling my gear at little to no profit at all, this helped me to create a good reputation amongst other paranormal enthusiasts and research groups. All my equipment is hand made by myself, which means that now I'm on the road with the GHI team I don't have a lot of time to build stuff. However during my breaks I still aim to get a few things made and get them out to these teams across the world and hope that I'm able to help further research and experimentation of the paranormal and maybe one day aide in finding some answers to what we've all been looking for.
Keep reading more of our exclusive interview here!

I Am Not Guilty Episode Now Online
If you missed the August 26th episode of Ghost Hunters, I Am Not Guilty, the full episode has been posted at Syfy Rewind for your viewing pleasure! SyFy Rewind also has previously aired episodes from Season 5 and the season premiere of Season 5.5.

Ghost Hunters Season Premiere Scares Up 2.5 Million
TV By The Numbers is reporting that the Season 5.5 premiere of Ghost Hunters (aired August 19, 2009) "scared up" 2.5 million viewers!
The episode also drew ~2% fewer adults 18-49 than the March 11 premiere, but considering a few more people are watching TV in March than August, those are still pretty good results.
On Wednesday Ghost Hunters squared off with Top Chef (which averaged 2.6 million) and Leverage (still haven’t seen the numbers for Leverage yet).
Sneak Peek of 'I Am Not Guilty' Episode
A preview of the August 26th episode of Ghost Huntersis now online. The following is said about the show:
In this Civil War-themed episode, the Ghost Hunters visit the historic Samuel Mudd House, famous for being a pit stop for John Wilkes Booth on his escape route following the assassination of Abraham Lincoln. Samuel Mudd met John Wilkes Booth six months before the assassination and let Booth stay in his home after tending to Booth's broken leg following the assassination. Mudd's involvement in the plot remains unclear, but he was found guilty of conspiracy. Now, several apparitions allegedly haunt the house (now operating as a museum), including a soldier and a woman in a white dress believed to be Samuel Mudd's wife, Sarah.
